Yesterday, The Israeli Defense minister Avigdor Lieberman in an interview said that “The next war in Gaza will be the last War, because we will destroy them completely.” He said ” As minister of defence, I would like to clarify that we have no intention of starting a new war against our neighbors in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, Lebanon or Syria. In Gaza, like the Iranians, they intend to eliminate the state of Israel… If they impose the next war on Israel, it will be their last. It will be their last confrontation because we will completely destroy them.
Lieberman also said in the interview that “The solution of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute should be based on two states with major land and population swaps between them, with keeping the Israeli settlements.”
Avigdor Lieberman, who took charge in May, 2016, made a series of threats directed at Ismail Haniya, Hamas’ Gaza leader, before taking up the post. He has since backed away from the statements and has said he is committed to “responsible, reasonably policy.”He serves under Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in what is seen as the most right-wing administration in Israeli history: many government members are publicly opposed to recognising the state of Palestine.
The last Israeli aggression on Gaza in 2014 had killed at least 2,000 Palestinians, over 500 of them children, and caused 11,000 injuries according to UN statistics. Last war on Gaza was the third within six years only.
